Animal House

So, big surprise, we are house sitting again. It's an interesting crew this time. Unfortunately we can't remember the dog's name, so I think of her as Crazy Horse. She is a slightly insane Golden Retriever. Maybe more than slightly, but very cute in an effort to redeem herself. I was warned that if I left any flip flops within reach she would demolish them. But I wasn't warned that she would try to chew them while they were still on my feet.




Then there's the cat, Tozer. She's very sweet, and she is 20 YEARS OLD. How many people years is that? 200? The owner was like "Well, if Tozer expires on your watch, don't feel too badly about it". Oh my goodness.


And finally, Ellie the bunny. I've never met a friendly rabbit before. She nudges your hand like a dog so you will scratch between her ears. The owner also told me that this breed of rabbit is emotional and they don't like to be left alone. I guess they had another one before, and they went away and it died because it got all distressed at being left alone.
So needless to say, I am praying that there wont be a massive death toll while they are gone. But anyway, we always enjoy house sitting for people. We love animals but can't have any of our own in our microscopic apartment. Unless you count fish. Now I just need to find someone with horses to house sit for!

Latest travels

Rob and I took some kids from Youth for Christ up to the Adirondacks this past week. We were in the Keene Valley area - climbing at Owl's Head and the Beer Walls and hiking up Giant Mt. With the exception of one of the kids getting sick it was a good trip, I always love time spent up there (or in any outdoors for that matter), no matter what we're doing!

happenings

As I look at our calendar for the summer I can see that we will be spending more time out of our apartment than in it. This makes me very happy. Lets see, we are about to head to the Adirondacks for 4 days, then we go straight to a friends house to house sit for them for a week or so (and they have a pool, yay!). After about a week at home we have 2 weeks of house sitting for another family, followed by a 2 week road trip to the Cascades. Can't wait!

Other notes of interest:

I just attended my first barn dance, with real square dancing, and it was soooo much fun. And of course I enjoy any oppurtunity to wear my cowboy hat. There may be pictures to follow.

Fronteir Field (job number 3) was a mad house last night. We even ran out of lids for our hot drinks, which isn't good for a place that sells mainly coffee ( : As I was leaving I got stuck in gridlock traffic. It took me 45 minutes to get from the field to 490, which noramlly takes me maybe 3 minutes. There were mobs of people everyhwere for the fireworks, it was a litttle crazy. Many of you know I am not a fan of cities, but I think that is the thing i dislike the most - traffic! I grew up in a town with one stop light, what do you expect? ( :

My favorite brother graduated from high school this past weekend. Now he's off to film school in New York City. He's very talented, I can't wait to see what he does!
